Subway in the Sky

Have you heard about the 180 foot blimp that Subway has created that looks like a sub sandwich and will house an actual Subway restaurant? They're only allowing a limited number of people to buy tickets in three cities: Kansas City, which is sold out, Orlando, and Miami. It's all a very extravagant marketing plan to promote their new Deli Hero subs and you can read more about it HERE. The reason I'm talking about it is because it sparked a recovered memory from my childhood....when we were going out for sandwiches and we weren't going to Subway, we were going to Blimpie! Blimpie seemed like Subway's most direct competitor to me. Not as widespread as Quizno's, but way more similar. The Blimpie I grew up going to doesn't exist anymore so it made me wonder if they even still exist and they do, they just only have one location in Missouri which is in Joplin. There is also one in Illinois but those would be the closest to me. Anyway, Blimpie literally uses a blimp for their logo so this stunt from Subway feels like a direct jab at them. Also, I've typed the word "blimp/blimpie" so many times now it's starting to look made up to me, ha! Click the link in the tweet below if you want to read more!
