Shopping small, aka shopping from locally owned businesses instead of national chains, is something I already make an effort to do whenever I can, but now it seems even more Americans are making the effort too! A survey found that 70% of those questioned are making a point to choose small businesses over big corporations during the months of the coronavirus pandemic. The top way people are supporting local businesses is by ordering take-out and delivery with 43% saying that's what they've been doing. 50% of respondents said they've been tipping their delivery drivers more than they did before and 38% have actually been donating money to local businesses! It makes sense that people are doing what they can to help since 74% of these survey participants are still afraid that their favorite local businesses may not survive.
