Dan + Shay shared their rendition of a ballad that Taylor Swift originally released 15 years ago.
Dan Smyers sat at the piano while duo partner Shay Mooney covered “Back to December” in a clip they shared on TikTok on Monday evening (September 29). Dan + Shay hailed it “such a great song,” and tagged Swift in their caption. Swift originally released “Back to December” on Speak Now in 2010. She released Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) in 2023, extending the record to a total of 22 tracks with several From The Vault additions. Swift announced in a heartfelt statement earlier this year that she officially owns all of her music.
Dan + Shay’s “Back to December” cover arrives just a few days before Swift releases her highly-anticipated new record, The Life of a Showgirl. The globally-beloved pop megastar revealed her new era when she appeared on fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast last month. Her appearance on the show, hosted by Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, set a world record, Guinness World Records confirmed.
