America is full of beloved restaurants that have been serving their communities for decades, and in some cases nearly as long as America has been a country. To take it even further, Missouri has a rich history, both culturally and in terms of its culinary scene, so it's no surprise that there are plenty of historic establishments that have stood the test of time.
According to a list of the "oldest" restaurants around the country compiled by LoveFood, the "most historic restaurant" in all of Missouri is Arthur Bryant's Barbecue, a longtime favorite of Kansas City since the '40s with a history that dates even further back, per KC Today. Arthur Bryant's is located at 1727 Brooklyn Avenue.
Here's what LoveFood had to say about this iconic Missouri institution:
"When it comes to barbecue, it doesn't get more legendary than Arthur Bryant's. Presidents ranging from Harry Truman to Barack Obama have eaten at this restaurant, which features recipes from the 'King of Ribs' himself. The food is simple yet hugely satisfying; trays of smoked meat groaning with ribs, ham, beef, and pulled pork are served with Bryant's sweet and tangy signature sauces."
