Sam Hunt Arrested For DUI In East Nashville

Sam Hunt was arrested on Thursday morning (November 21) on charges of driving under the influence and having an open container.

According to an arrest warrant, Hunt was pulled over after police were notified that a driver was traveling south in the northbound lanes in East Nashville. When the police arrived to the scene officers said Hunt smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes and tried to give his credit card when asked for a driver's license, Nashville's WKRN reports.

Court documents reveal Hunt was the only person in the vehicle at the time and that he admitted to drinking alcohol "recently." The arrest warrant indicates his blood alcohol level was .173. The legal limit in Tennessee is .08.

Hunt was released from jail around 9 a.m. on a $2,500 bond. The 34-year-old will appear in court on January 17, 2020.

Hunt's arrest just after making his return to music with the release of his new single, "Kinfolks." This is the singer's first song shared since 2018's "Downtown's Dead," which followed his 2017 hit, "Body Like A Back Road." In a recent interview, he shared his plans to turn in his new album in January in hopes of having it released to fans before the summer.
