Dog Owners Walk 870 Miles a Year

I've heard it before, and I've lived it since I got two dogs of my own, but apparently dog owners get a lot more steps in than those who don't have pets! A new study found that when you have a little four legged "fur baby" that needs exercise you end up walking about 870 miles a year, just with taking the dog for walks! That ends up being about 21 miles a week, which is 7 more than the average 14 miles or less a week non dog owners get.

Another beneficial side of having a dog to walk is that it makes you more social! A lot of dog owners surveyed said the feel more outgoing, more connected to their community, and they have about two conversations with other dog owners during every walk!
