Why Waking Up Without An Alarm Clock Could Be Better For You

I would LOVE to not set an alarm every morning, but I go to sleep at such an inconsistent time every night, and love sleeping in so much on the weekends, I would probably end up being late for work every day and lose my job.

That's what the author of this article thought before she began her experiment, and she even warned her boss and coworkers, but turns out this actually worked really well for her! She explains that she did a lot of research and took a class about our internal body clocks before beginning the experiment. From what she says, I'm pretty sure my body clock is nocturnal, so I still don't know if this plan would allow me to function in normal society.

Basically, though, she tried to limit all artificial light in her home and didn't watch tv or use her devices at night. She said that alone helped her go to bed earlier because she wasn't distracted, so most nights she ended up going to sleep around 11. Most days she woke up around 8am and made it to work on time! She said she felt so rested she was even able to exercise more than normal! Click the link in the tweet below to read even more of what she had to say, and to see her explanation of why she thinks this works.

After reading this, I would really love to try waking up without an alarm clock, but I know I would HAVE to start going to bed earlier. Another wrench in this plan for me would be that I now have two puppies so regardless of what time we all go to bed they always seem to wake up between 6am and 6:30am. Does a puppy whining count as an alarm clock?
