Not only is winning a medal at the Olympics an amazing accomplishment and a huge pay off for a life time of hard work, but it's a straight up huge pay off! On top of the potential of endorsement deals medalists actually get paid! The United States Olympic Committee gives athletes a cash prize for each medal. Gold earns an athlete $37,000, Silver gets $22,500 and Bronze gets $15,000. Team sports split the earnings and the payouts don’t come from taxpayers, but from private donors.
