Kenny Chesney kicked off the weekend with “Carry On,” a carefree single that marks the country star’s first new music in more than two years.
Chesney’s signature sun-soaked, summer-worthy style shines in the anthem that arrived on Friday (May 8). Songwriters Chase McGill, Matt Jenkins, and Jessi Alexander teamed up to bring “Carry On” to life. Chesney said when he first heard it, the song reminded him to hit the “reset button” in the midst of stressful moments.
“(It’s) about hitting the reset button in your life, no matter what you do with your life,” Chesney shared on Instagram earlier this week. “We all got stress with work, we all got stress with relationships, we all got stress with life. And when I first heard ‘Carry On,’ It reminded me just how simple hitting the reset button can be.”
The 2025 Country Music Hall of Fame inductee posted the first sneak peek of “Carry On” On Instagram last month. He simply captioned the clip, “here’s to hitting the reset button on your life,” with the single’s release date. Chesney’s new single arrives as the country megastar gets ready to return for another run of shows at Sphere Las Vegas. The 2026 residency kicks off on June 19 and runs through July 11. Chesney previously shared that “this show has kept us inspired,” and he “watched the fans having this experience I’m sure they couldn’t imagine.”
