My Latest Dumb Injury

I'm a klutz, I bruise easy, and I'm notorious for dumb self inflicted injuries. My latest may be the worst yet because it involves a broken bone or a dislocated joint. I haven't gotten it checked out yet but will soon! WARNING: If hearing about broken bones/medical stuff makes you queasy you may want to stop reading. If you don't like seeing pictures of bruises or feet, do not swipe or click to the second photo in the Instagram post below. If you don't have a problem with any of the above, you should be good to proceed!

So, as I mentioned above, I have accidentally hurt myself in a lot of the ways in the past. Most times it's bumping my head on things, or rolling an ankle here and there, but some of the most notable were the time I opened my car door into my face and gave myself a black eye, the time I fell while working out and thought I broke my arm (turns out it was a sprain), and the time I rolled my ankle bad enough that it bruised and got swollen. My latest injury is... a broken toe. I know that doesn't sound so bad, but the way it happened is so lame, and the amount of damage/pain is probably the worst I've done to myself.

I had been at the lake and had a great day wakeboarding and swimming with friends and family, and when I was going inside to dry off and change for dinner I caught my toe on the leg of a stool and kept walking. At first I thought it was just a bad stub and I tried to breathe deep and move on, but then I looked down. Here's where it's gonna get a little gross. The toe next to my pinky toe on my left food was bending to the left. Seeing that FREAKED me out so bad that I just reacted and pushed it back to straight. It made the worst knuckle cracking sounding pop I have ever heard and I am cringing reliving it as I write this. In fact the little flashbacks I have to that image and sound may be the worst part about this injury. Okay, the not being able to walk normal and the bruising is pretty bad too.

Right away my sister-in-law brought me an ice pack and I was able to get it elevated and iced, and before dinner my other sister-in-law who has broken a toe before helped me wrap it. It wasn't until the next morning when my husband and I took of the bandages to inspect and re-wrap it that the bruising had set in. It's actually worse on the bottom, but posting a picture of my foot already felt weird enough so I didn't want to share the bottom of my foot too. You can actually see that photo by swiping or clicking over in the Instagram post below. The sister-in-law that has broken a toe before lent me the special shoe/boot I'm currently wearing (also pictured below) but because I'm not sure if it was broken or just dislocated, and I don't know if my super quick popping it back into place set it correctly, I still think I should go to a doctor and get it checked out.
